Grants offered for showing UW’s value to state

Grants of up to $500 are available to faculty and staff who have projects or initiatives that create awareness of the value UW-Madison provides to the state of Wisconsin.

The Office of University Relations is seeking applicants for the Statewide Outreach Incentive Grant Program. The program provides funding to new and existing education and outreach programs and projects targeted to Wisconsin communities outside of Dane County.

“The Statewide Outreach Incentive Grant Program advances the institutional priority known as the Wisconsin Idea, that the university should improve lives beyond our classrooms,” says Interim Vice Chancellor for University Relations Charles Hoslet. “We are looking for ideas that engage and inform Wisconsin citizens about how the resources and expertise at UW-Madison benefit the entire state.”

The grants may be used to pay for staff time, travel, supplies and other expenses associated with taking university programs outside of Madison and Dane County.

Applications for the 2015-16 fiscal year will be accepted until funding has been depleted, and applicants may apply more than once for different activities.

Examples of qualifying outreach activities include:

  • Presentations or visits to business organizations, service clubs or other community groups.
  • Creation of an “experts roundtable” event around a topic of interest to a certain population or demographic that would provide community members, local government officials and media an opportunity to listen, ask questions and gain new understanding.
