News Briefs: Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon to Star in ‘Fahrenheit 451’

Fahrenheit 451: Michael B. Jordan (Creed, above left) and Michael Shannon will star in a new adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s classic novel Fahrenheit 451. First published in 1953, the novel is set in a world where books are illegal and “firemen” are responsible for burning any that are found. The project, which has not yet been finalized, is in development at HBO. Ramin Bahrani and Amir Naderi, who worked with Shannon on 99 Homes (above right), are writing the script; Bahrani will direct. Leslie Uggams

Deadpool 2: Leslie Uggams (above) will reprise her role as fan-favorite character Blind Al from Deadpool in the upcoming sequel. Blind Al was the unexpectedly funny and foul-mouthed roommate of Wade Wilson in last year’s smash hit. Uggams will join Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz in the movie, which is expected to begin filming soon. [BlackFilm]

 

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Arctic: Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, above) will star in Arctic. The thriller follows a man who is stranded in the Arctic and must figure out how to survive after a rescue opportunity falls through. Brazilian filmmaker Joe Penna is directing. [Deadline]

 

Wakefield

Wakefield Trailer: As the first trailer reveals, Bryan Cranston stars in Wakefield as a man who lives in the suburbs with his wife (Jennifer Garner) and children.
